Sidelong

Rowdy punk rock sneer to the right, a bottle in a bag; organic country three chords and the truth honesty on the left-one eye in the rear view mirror and one eye on the rough road ahead. Writing with a sense of urgency-so refreshing these days it's almost startling, Sarah's lyrics are in turn smart, funny, mean and above all honest.

You can hear in her voice what's she's seen; world weary, hard lessons learned-or not-but always defiant. The collaboration between grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Robbie Fulks and rock 'n' roll royalty Linda Gail Lewis, Wild! Wild! Wild, gleefully lives up to it's title. The duets we did were so much fun. My husband was a promotion man for Stax and Chess, and he felt like he was back at Stax when he heard 'Foolmaker.

We did all of our cooking on open fire - my dad hunted for our food and then mum would put it in the camp oven. Campfire is the twelfth studio album by australian singer-songwriter Kasey Chambers and co-credited to The Fireside Disciples, a collective made up of guitarist Brandon Dodd of Grizzly Train, Kasey's father Bill Chambers and Yawuru elder Alan Pigram.

Hedley didn’t start writing his own songs until he was about 28 years-old. He got his hands on his own fi ddle at age 8, and by 12, he was playing with middle-aged pickers at the VFW.

Jukebox, it’s a Hedley original. It’s impossible to listen to the tune and not smile thinking of Hedley’s years logged in cover bands on Nashville’s Lower Broad. Simple and brilliant, “i never shed a Tear” sounds like a standard, but just like all but one track on Mr. Shrink-wrapped. The heartbreaking, distilled, defi antly classic country that poured out of him became Mr.

Hedley delivers a masterful recitation over crying steel, soft harmonies, and rich supporting strings. The fi nal track is the only cover: a goosebumps-inducing version of “When You Wish Upon a Star. Hedley picked the song to honor his dad, glowing press, who passed away about three years ago without seeing the record deal, and peer admiration Hedley’s earned.

There are other aspects of life that aren’t so great that people experience. So on the backend of his 20s, he fi nally started writing, eventually unlocking a fl ood of clarity and creativity. Not everything is Coors Light and tailgates.
